Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study to evaluate the accuracy of block triangulation of SPOT 7 stereo satellite images for updating the geo-database at a scale of 1:10,000 (both horizontal and vertical accuracy). The scope of the study was a block of two stereo pairs of SPOT 7 satellite images covering the That Son mountain area, Tinh Bien District, An Giang Province, 98 ground control points. The block adjustment results have shown that with 6 GCPs, it is sufficient to meet the horizontal accuracy requirements for updating the geo-database at the scale of 1:10,000. When 14 GCPs were used, our result met both horizontal and vertical accuracy requirements for updating the geo-database at the scale of 1:10,000 with contours at an interval of 10 m; the differences between surveyed coordinates and height values of checkpoints and its coordinates and height derived from block adjustment in two cases corresponding sequence were 2.91 m (CE95), 4.76 m (LE95) and 2.37 m (CE95), 3.27 m (LE95).
