Abstract
The paper applies the FAO's international framework for assessing sustainable land management (SLM) to Vietnam's conditions. Precisely, the level of sustainable land management is quantified through the SLMI index, reflecting pillars of productivity, security, protection, feasibility, and acceptability. The research focuses on Phu Yen province with 5 main land uses, including paddy rice, annual crops, perennial crops, production forest, and aquaculture. By combining the spatial multi-criteria evaluation technique (SMCE) with field survey data collection, the authors have determined the sustainability levels of land use systems in 2023. At the same time, the paper also assesses the changes in the sustainability of land use systems over time
