Abstract

Whatever method it uses, map building in Vietnam has to go through the process of data editing. Data editing is often performed by CAD software such as Microstation or AutoCad and each map sheet is often edited individually, which makes database building more difficult. As a result, many organizations in Vietnam have built the database by using software connected to the database management systems such as ESRI’s ArcMap software or Bentley Map of Bentley Systems. These software products allow many people to edit on the central database and they are supported by additional programming tools; therefore the final product (or the database) has a structure which is very convenient for management.
