Abstract
Multi-scale databases can be considered as an indispensable consequence of Cartographic generalizations and multiple representation studies in a database environment. One of the most important issues is the need for objective methods to control the content of the map at different scales. This paper introduces an approach to the development of a multi-scale map database based on criteria for objectively evaluating map content.
